Choosing a spine surgeon in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Many patients in Bangladesh begin by searching for the best spine surgeon in Dhaka. The questions worth asking are about training, experience with your condition, and whether the surgeon will consider non-surgical care first.

Prof. Dr. Md. Kamrul Ahsan is Professor of Spine Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at BMU (PG Hospital), Dhaka. He holds MBBS, D-Ortho, MS (Ortho), FRCS (Glasgow), FACS and FICS, with fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery in Japan and spine surgery in the USA and UK. He has been on the spinal surgery faculty since 2003 and has published widely on disc herniation, spondylolisthesis, spinal tumours, trauma and cervical myelopathy.

He sees patients with neck pain, back pain, slipped disc, sciatica, cervical and lumbar spondylosis and nerve compression at two chambers in Dhaka: Dhanmondi and Green Road. Many spine problems are treated without an operation; when surgery is worth considering, the reasons and alternatives are explained first.
